1938-2018

PERRYVILLE – Neal Gibson, 80, of Perryville, went to be with Jesus, peacefully at Charleston Health Care Facility in Danville on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Born July 3, 1938, in Boyle County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Annie Bugg Gibson of Perryville and his brother Herbert Gibson of Springfield. He most recently attended Open Arms Community Church where he was an Honorary Deacon. He was also a member of the Campbellsville Emmaus Community and a past member of the Perryville Masonic Lodge. He was retired from ConAgra Foods in Springfield, KY after 43 years. Neal was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all that knew him. His greatest joys were attending church functions and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Carpenter Gibson, married March 30, 1957 (61 years); a son, Bruce (Charlotte) Gibson of Nicholasville; a daughter, Janiece (Phil) Bishop of Danville; three grandchildren, Shelby and Joshua Bishop and Isaac (Virginia) Gibson; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Alex Gibson; sister-in-law, Cherry Gibson of Springfield; a niece, Karen (Phil) Maciag of Frankfort; and a nephew, Gary Gibson of Lebanon. In addition he is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other dear friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 9th at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Bro. Phil Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville. Visitation will be from 2-6:00 p.m., Sunday July 8, 2018 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Eldridge, Mitchell Carpenter Jr, Rodney Carpenter, Lonnie Carpenter, Orlando Stevenson, Gary Gibson, and Phil Maciag
