William Updike, vice-president of Natural and Cultural Resources at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, was the speaker at The Kiwanis Club of Danville’s lunch program on Thursday, June 28. He shared about new restoration projects at Shaker Village.

Will oversees Shaker Village buildings and grounds, farm, preserve, River Boat, and museum collections and archive.

He is responsible for the successful completion of the Centre Family Dwelling and Meeting House preservation projects, a year-long effort to preserve two of Shaker Village’s most iconic buildings. Will has over 25-years of experience in archaeology, historic preservation, cultural landscapes, environmental studies, engineering, and construction projects.

He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with degrees in Anthropology and Historic Preservation. Will and his family – wife Susan, 2 sons: Spencer and Ethan – live in Danville.
