The Garden Club of Kentucky hosted an open house and tea in June at its headquarters, the Nanine Clay Wallis House and Arboretum in Paris. The 1851 Greek Revival house in the Paris Historic District was donated to the Garden Club in 1970 by Nanine Clay Wallis, a founder of the Garden Club of Kentucky and its second president. Garden clubs all over Kentucky came for “Tea at the Wallis” to celebrate the return of original furniture donated to the club by Mrs. Wallis’ great-nieces in Arizona. Funds raised will help cover costs of moving the furniture, as well as some conservation work.  Joanna Kirby of the Garden Club of Danville was instrumental in bringing the furniture home to Kentucky.
