Vehicle hits house due to wet road

The driver of an SUV was not injured when her vehicle struck a house Sunday night.

According to Danville Police, Shawnee Tandy, 37, of Danville was driving a 2007 Yukon about 11:30 p.m., traveling east on Shadeland Drive. Police said due to the wet road, she failed to stop at the intersection of Swope Drive and continued through the residence’s yard, striking a mailbox and tree before hitting the southwest corner of the house. No one inside the home was injured.

Man arrested for possessing firearm

Following a report of a stolen firearm, a Danville man was arrested for possession the weapon.

Kenneth D. Norman, 30, of Danville, was arrested Sunday night and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Following a call from a man at an East Main Street residence reporting a firearm had been stolen, Danville police responded at 9:28 p.m. Sunday and determined the firearm hadn’t been stolen, but was taken by the man’s son following a civil agreement, according to police.

Officers located Norman at a home on Sycamore Street and found he was a convicted felon. He was then arrested and taken to the Boyle County Detention Center.

Officers Remilien and Sparks are continuing the investigation.
