Soul of 2nd Street History Conference on Aug. 3

The Soul of 2nd Street History Conference will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at the Boyle County Public Library. This event honors local African-American athletes. There will be history displays and speakers honoring these local sports heroes, legends and icons. Light refreshments and history exhibits open at 2 p.m. Conference begins at 3 p.m.

American Legion Auxiliary Perryville Unit 301 — 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at Perryville Christian Church on Third Street.

Garden Club of Danville — 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Ephraim McDowell House, 125 South Second St. Included is a tour of the formal and apothecary gardens of the Ephraim McDowell House. Linda Porter, club member and McDowell House Garden manager, will lead tour and describe the features of the gardens in the early 1800s. Visitors and prospective members are welcome.
