News release

Nine area students have received scholarships from Kentucky Farm Bureau. In partnership with county Farm Bureaus, the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation awarded $465,400 this year to students across the commonwealth.

The local scholarship recipients are:

• Adriana Crockett, a senior at Boyle County High School, was awarded a $1,000 “David Sparrow Memorial Scholarship” from Boyle County Farm Bureau and plans to attend the University of Kentucky to pursue a degree in human resources. Crockett resides in Danville.

• Delaney Simpson, a senior at Boyle County High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation. Simpson will attend Georgetown College to obtain a degree in education. She is the daughter of Steve and Gina Simpson of Parksville.

• Sara Beth Adkins of Casey County was awarded a $500 scholarship. She plans to attend Lindsey Wilson College to pursue a degree in psychophysiology. Adkins is the daughter of James and Annie Adkins of Liberty.

• Austin Thomas Harne of Casey County was awarded a $500 scholarship. He will attend Western Kentucky University to pursue degrees in architecture and business management. Harne is the son of Todd and Krystal Harne of Liberty.

• Madison Elizabeth Meeks of Casey County was awarded a $500 scholarship. She is heading to Campbellsville University to earn a degree in biology. She is the daughter of Darrell and Amy Meeks of Liberty.

• Kendra Joy Wethington of Casey County was awarded a $500 scholarship. She plans to attend Somerset Community College to obtain a degree in physical therapy. Wethington is the daughter of Karen Wethington and the late Robert Wethington of Liberty.

• Presley Shaelyn Woodrum of Casey County was awarded a $500 scholarship. She will attend Murray State University to earn a degree in agriscience technology. Woodrum is the daughter of Brett and Lona Woodrum of Liberty.

• Ashley Nolan, a senior at Mercer County High School, was awarded a $1,000 “Mercer County Farm Bureau Young Farmer Scholarship.” After graduating from high school, Nolan plans to attend Morehead State University to pursue a degree in agriculture. Nolan resides in Harrodsburg, KY.

• Austin Arnold, a senior at Mercer County High School, was awarded $1,000 “Mercer County Farm Bureau Scholarship.” Arnold will attend the University of Kentucky to obtain a degree in computer engineering. He is the son of Michael and Marjorie Arnold of Harrodsburg, KY.

Farm Bureau scholarships, offered annually, are awarded to recipients who display the greatest levels of academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities and financial need.
