Writing tickets could help bypass traffic

Dear Editor,

While city officials are sitting around “brainstorming” ideas for the Kroger traffic issue, here’s another one: Enforce the current traffic laws at that intersection.

Maybe write a few tickets for running the yellow/red light on 150? Right now, there is a high probability that folks are going to blow through that light from any and all directions. An even higher probability is that cars turning right into Kroger are going to ignore the “no right turn on red” sign.

I stopped a Danville police officer in the Kroger lot and asked why that sign is not enforced. The officer looked at me in disbelief and asked “what sign?” I pointed it out and mentioned that someone is going to get killed expecting cars to stop there, and the officer shrugged and told me to “have a nice day.”

Writing a few tickets would be a heck of a lot less expensive than reconfiguring that intersection. Who knows? It might help.
