Widows/widowers meal and meeting

The South District Baptist Association monthly Widows/Widowers Meal and Meeting will be Sunday, Aug. 12 at ​First Baptist Church, 1570 N. U.S. 127 Bypass, Danville, beginning at 12:30 p.m. All widows and widowers are welcome to attend. Mr. Benny Goode of First Baptist will be presenting “Practical Tips for Home Maintenance.” Cash donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the food. Please RSVP to Dr. Cheryl Erwin at (859) 948-5979 or at erwinlexky@hotmail.com to assist the ladies of the church in their preparation of the food.

Hope and Help Crusade

Several area churches are working together to bring a non-denominational event, Hope and Help Crusade, to Danville, Sunday through Wednesday, Aug. 26-29. On Sunday, Aug. 26, the crusade begins at 6 p.m. with family night. The Monday through Wednesday services all begin at 7 p.m., with youth night on Monday; Hope & Help night on Tuesday; and Community night on Wednesday.

The crusade will take place at The Showroom, located at the corner of the U.S. 127 bypass and Ky. 34.

Dr. Don Whitt will be the crusade evangelist. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee; a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas; and a doctor of ministry from Luther Rice Seminary in Georgia.

Whitt has pastored churches for more than 30 years and his messages have been broadcast throughout the southeastern United States. He has served as the state evangelism director for the state convention of Baptists in Ohio; and he has preached at church revivals, crusades, state pastors conferences, state evangelism conferences and college and seminary chapel services. Whitt has also led several mission trips to foreign countries.

First Baptist yard sale and concert

First Baptist Church on the Danville bypass will be holding a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 3; and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. All proceeds go to missions.

A concert by the praise band will be held in conjunction with the yard sale at 7 p.m. today in the sanctuary. The concert is free, but a love offering will be collected to aid missions.

First Church of God yard sale

The Danville First Church of God Youth Group will have an indoor yard sale today and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds will go toward expenses for students to attend the state youth convention this fall. The Ladies’ Ministry will have concessions to sell, including simple lunch items, baked goods and more both days beginning at 10 a.m. These proceeds will benefit missions projects. The church is located at 3220 Harrodsburg Road between Danville and Harrodsburg.
