When the urge to get crafty struck the residents of Morning Pointe of Danville, they decided to make something fun for themselves and for their neighbors. Using recycled plastic bottles, rice, colorful buttons, and other assorted odds and ends, the residents of the personal care community assembled “busy bottles,” tools designed to stimulate the senses of their neighbors in The Lantern memory care community next-door. “Busy bottles” and other similar tools not only promote sensory engagement in individuals with memory loss, they have also been shown to have a calming effect, reducing agitation and anxiety. Whether making them or using them, everyone at Morning Pointe of Danville had a good time with these unique and crafty tools!
