Hustonville School reunion planned

HUSTONVILLE — The Hustonville School reunion is planned for noon Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Cost is $12 per person. For more information call (859) 324-5645.

Fort Logan auxiliary to hold girls day

Stanford —  Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary is hosting their first ever “Girls Day Out Fashion Show & Brunch.”  The event will take place 10 a.m.-noon  Saturday, Aug. 18 from at the Lincoln County Extension Office, 104 Metker Trail in Stanford.

The event will showcase current and upcoming children’s and adult apparel and jewelry from local vendors in Stanford and Danville. Models will showcase all of the current styles for all ages. The ticket price includes a brunch-style buffet.Participating agencies include 4 Generations Ice Cream & Gift Shop, Perfectly Practical, Lee Stephens, Kids Alley, Derby Shoppe & Raggs, Standing Fort Boutique, and more.

Children’s consignment sale Aug. 24

The Lil Cherubs Fall/Winter Children’s Consignment Sale will be 8:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at 1441 Perryville Road. 30 percent of all profits go towards children’s ministry locally and globally.

After-school ‘gym and swim’ program offered

McDowell Wellness Center is offering an after-school Gym and Swim program for children ages 6 through 13, beginning Aug. 27 and going through May 22. Children can choose to participate in McDowell Minnows, Jr. Boot Camp or both. Minnows is a non-competitive program and will meet 3:45-5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. Jr. Boot Camp is an exercise program that will meet 3:45-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children can stay until 6 p.m., receive a light snack while they work on homework for an additional $2.

Meeting

Danville Architectural Heritage Board — special called meeting, 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the city commission conference room. The agenda includes a public hearing for a zone change for the Willis Russell Cabin and Montgomery-Rodes house. The regular meeting will continue at 9:30 a.m. Items on the agenda include certificate of appropriateness for 135 North Second Street, design review for Sister Cities mural request; 124 Third St., design review of Heart of Danville mural on Derby Shoppe wall; 320 West Main St., replace fascia board and gutters at Trinity Episcopal Church; 131 North Fourth St., reconfigure front door and landing, add awnings and signs for Gypsy Run Brewery; and revision of COA streamline process.
