Danville Christian Academy hires three

Danville Christian Academy has hired three additional teachers for the new school year.

Myranda Boyd, originally from Ashland, has lived in the Danville area for the past five years. She graduated with a bachelor of arts in the Bible, with a concentration in deaf ministry. She lives with her husband and four children. She and her husband have been serving in ministry for 15 years.

Boyd is known for her love of the Word of God. She loves to share God’s love with children. She enjoys the outdoors, gardening, the ocean and sharing the Chronicles of Narnia series with her children.

Jennifer Howard has a bachelor of science in secondary mathematics education with a computer science education minor and a master of arts in secondary mathematics education. Howard has 14 years of experience as a high school math teacher at Lincoln County High School and East Jessamine High School, as well as 14 years of experience as a high school and middle school STEM educator at East Jessamine High School and West Jessamine Middle School. She teaches coding for students at all levels. Howard enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.

Milca L. Feistritzer was raised in New York City by Spanish-speaking parents. She attended Baruch College in New York City and her professional and personal life experiences have merited her various positions in legal offices, schools and architect firms.

She is passionate about Spanish culture and language. She has lived in Danville for 17 years while raising four kids, ages 5-19. Milca has teaching experience at Hogsett Elementary School and tutoring at all levels assisting with ESL programs.

Maddox a member of NSCS

Leah Renee Maddox of Crab Orchard has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS).

“NSCS is more than just a symbol of academic achievement. Membership gives students access to a number of amazing benefits, including career and networking resources, scholarships, travel, and service projects both on campus and in the community,” says Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS Founder & Chief Executive Officer.

NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-year and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing. NSCS has more than 1 million lifetime members and 300 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Local students named to dean’s list at Centre

Area students have been named to the dean’s list for the winter/spring term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.

John Combs Buchanan is the son of Stephanie and David Buchanan of Harrodsburg and is a graduate of Mason County High School; Jessica Haralu is the daughter of Gladys and Megolazo Haralu of Harrodsburg and is a graduate of Mercer County High School; Morgan Underwood is the daughter of Stori Semonis and Mark Underwood, both of Harrodsburg and is a graduate of Mercer County Senior High School.

Lancaster

Mary Katherine Oberman is the daughter of Tyler Oberman and Tawnya Oberman of Lancaster and is a graduate of Garrard County High School.

Salvisa

Russell Mansfield is the son of Deeann Wenk of Harrodsburg and James Mansfield of Salvisa and is a graduate of Mercer County High School.
