Chief Gray shared with us about how his department works hard to serve the community through the always-present staffing challenges. Currently, they have what they need to cover shifts, but are looking forward to being even better staffed in about a year when he gets new officers from the police academy.

The chief was pleased with how the recent active shooter training event went with the guidance of Danville-Boyle County Emergency Management, as well as the help from county and city fire crews, the county EMS, the sheriff’s department and the hospital.  He felt they also identified things they need to do better for future trainings.

For a department that receives over 14,000 calls in a year and is responsible for a micropolitan like the greater Danville area with a regional medical center, Chief Gray is proud of the work his team does on behalf of citizens.
