The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9:00 a.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Coding classes: 4-5:30 p.m. Monday. Led by Dr. Christine Shannon and Lucy Minichillo, these classes are designed for students in grades 6-12 and will introduce coding and computer programming to students interested in learning about computer science. Classes will be held every Monday at 4 p.m. in the Computer Lab, and open enrollment and will run through the end of the 2018-19 school year. No experience is necessary. • Sharpie tie-dye backpacks: 4 p.m. Monday. On Monday, August 20 at 4:00 p.m., tweens (ages 9-13) are invited to create vibrant tie-dye drawstring backpacks using Sharpie markers. This event will be held in the Storytime Room.

• Teen Gaming: 4 p.m. Tuesday. Featuring video games and snacks, this will be held in the Community Room. For ages 13-18.

• Tween Master Builders: 4 p.m. Thursday. Tweens can stop by the library to build or create anything imaginable using a wide variety of building supplies, including LEGOs, K’NEX, Brain Flakes, Magna Tiles, and marble run tracks. Snacks will be provided. For ages 9-13.

• Civil War Bed Turning Demonstration: 6 p.m. Thursday. The library will host a bed turning featuring Civil War replica quilts. A bed turning is when quilts are displayed on a bed and are turned as the speaker discusses the historical and technical aspects of the quilt. Refreshments will be served. This event is sponsored by The Pieceable Friends Quilt Guild, The Arts Commission of Danville-Boyle County, and the Boyle County Public Library. Registration is required. • History Café: Trash, Treasures and the Passing of Time: 6 p.m. Thursday. This monthly event provides a place where people can gather and chat about local history. This month Jerry Sampson, owner of Sampson Antiques, Books & Appraisals in Harrodsburg, will be on hand to answer questions about what to do with personal archives.
