Danville needs transitional housing
Dear Editor,
Danville needs supervised transitional housing for those leaving prison. Ninety-five percent of prisoners will return to the community. Former convicts will move into your community.
Andrew Wilkinson was recently denied the opportunity to provide housing for 15 men leaving prison. Andrew is accessible and accountable. His leadership would have made several positive contributions to society: savings as fewer people returned to prison, accountability for the program residents, free community service projects, restored lives and repaired relationships.
We need to have transitional housing in Danville for men leaving prison. It is the fiscally responsible choice and the moral choice.
