Stanford Lions hosting community health fair

STANFORD — The Stanford Lions Club will be hosting a “Fun Community Health Fair” today, Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library in Stanford. Attendees can have their blood pressure and glucose levels checked; participate in adult eye screenings; and more. Flu shot and Hepatitis A shots will be available with insurance cards. Information about the different services offered in the community will be available and there will be a craft table for kids with healthy snacks.

Patton-Patten reunion today

LIBERTY — The annual Patton-Patten family reunion will be held today, Saturday, Aug. 25, in the Pork Producers building at the Ag/Expo Center in Liberty. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and a potluck lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. Music, entertainment, recreation, rides for small children and a silent and live auction will be featured. Civil Air Patrol open house

The Stuart Powell Civil Air Patrol Squadron in Danville is having an open house for anyone interested in joining from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27 at its building at the Danville-Boyle County Airport.

CAP now focuses on cadet programs, aerospace and emergency services. It is a volunteer part of the U.S. Air Force. It operates a fleet of 560 aircraft and performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search-and-rescue missions (AFRCC) that save an average of 80 lives annually.

The Cadet Program, for ages 12-18, centers on the values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence and respect. Cadets have the opportunity to become exceptional leaders and many develop a passion for flying, being field medics, cybersecurity or many other careers they are exposed to while serving their communities.
