Edgar Paul Bowman

Edgar Paul Bowman, 84, of W. Grubbs Lane died Friday, August 31, 2018 following an illness. Born September 19, 1933 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Joseph Eugene and Mary Artie Knopp Bowman. Paul attended the Parksville and Junction City Schools and was a Catholic. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a paratrooper during that conflict. Following his service he returned home and became a carpenter. He loved fishing, dogs and his family, maybe in that order. His wife, children and grandchildren were the center of his life. He loved to pick up the children and grandchildren from school because he always worried about them and wanted to make sure they were safe. He was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters: Joe, James, Leo, Charles, John, Sam, Catherine, Elizabeth, Agnus and Pauline.

Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth Naylor Bowman; three children, Edgar Paul Bowman Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Junction City, Debora Kay Engle and her husband Bill of Junction City and Rita Gail Fifer of Danville; six grandchildren, Jeff Johnson and his wife, Kayla, Jesse Fifer, Dustin Fifer, Brandy Bowman and her fiance, Todd Wall, Jeremy Huser Bowman and Jenny McQueary; eleven grandchildren, MaKaylee, Brandon, Landon, MaKennah, Sierrah, Dakota, Paul, Talhia, Ryder, Adalyn and Leighton; his two great-grandchildren, Miah and Madelynn; and his loving dog, Roscoe.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Rev. JR Fields, Rev. Brad King and Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jesse Fifer, Jeff Johnson, Dustin Fifer, Brandy Bowman, MaKaylee Johnson, and Brandon Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Thompson, Ricky Gibson, Scott Thompson, Tom Thompson and Joe Hamlett. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 18, Caswell-Saufley. The Patriot Guard riders will escort the procession. Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. The online guestbook is available at www.stithcares.com.
