AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

News Release

LEXINGTON — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, has enlisted the support of corporations in raising funds for the cause. When consumers visit any of the 21 branches of the Central Kentucky Region of Community Trust Bank, they will have the opportunity to give to the American Heart Association via the Life Is Why We Give fundraising campaign throughout the month of September.

“We are extremely gratified to be able to participate in the Life is Why We Give campaign this year,” said Billie Dollins, market president. “Funds raised during this campaign will go to support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving research and education programs in the central Kentucky area.”

Dollins is also the 2018 chair of the Go Red for Women Experience this year. The event will take place on November 8 at the Lexington Center and is expected to attract 1,000 people.

Customers who visit branches located in Harrodsburg, Danville Main and Danville Manor may ask to purchase red hearts through Sept. 30, with all proceeds raised from those purchases going back to the American Heart Association. Community Trust Bank hopes to be able to raise awareness as well as funds during this important campaign.

As the leading source of non-government-funded cardiovascular science, the association has invested more than $4 billion in scientific research and discovery since 1949. The organization trains approximately 2 million high school graduates in CPR every year and has reduced cardiovascular disease mortality by 70 percent since 1968.

In addition to contributing to save lives through company supporters, donations may be made directly to the association at lifeiswhy.org/donate.
