Dear Editor,

With the midterm elections only a few weeks away, I am confidently endorsing Tom Ellis for magistrate in District One of Boyle County.

Tom’s wide range of experiences in business and government, as well as his extensive involvement in community, state and national affairs make him uniquely qualified to serve in this position. More importantly, Tom’s enthusiasm, energy and dedication to completing any task he undertakes in a well-informed and thorough manner make him an ideal choice.

Tom’s list of achievements is impressive. Throughout his 20-plus years working in the field of health care administration, Tom’s proficiencies in corporate marketing, media relations, communications and government affairs served his corporation well and opened doors into even wider fields of endeavor.

Tom served as health care counselor to Kentucky’s governor from 1992-1994 and attended eight legislative sessions regarding health care, business and industrial issues in Kentucky. As a representative for his corporation, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Delta Dental, Tom served on two task forces in Washington, D.C., interacting in statehouses across America on health issues. Tom later traveled to Japan as a governor appointee to participate in a month-long business study program. In addition, Tom has served on various boards and committees, including The Leukemia Society, United Way, Heritage Hospice, Chamber of Commerce and many more.

My husband and I have enjoyed a friendship with Tom and his talented wife Peggy for almost 15 years. They are the “genuine article,” without pretense and with a sincere concern for the welfare of others and the issues that affect them. Although both are retired from their respective jobs, they enthusiastically embrace new challenges and opportunities to enrich our community with their time and talents.

Those who know Tom Ellis best will agree that honesty, integrity and service to others are the hallmarks of his life. One can always count on Tom to lend a helping hand, a listening ear and a committed effort to solve a problem or find a solution to whatever concern or issue is at hand.

I can think of no one more fitted to serve as magistrate for District One than my friend, Tom Ellis.
