Boyle Adult Ed has many supporters

Dear Editor,

Thank you to The Advocate-Messenger for the good coverage of the Adult Education/GED Program here in Boyle County.

The program is a success due to the support it receives from this generous community.  The Presbyterian Church on Main Street has provided a downtown home for the program, including a large classroom and office, more space than we had before and we look forward to filling it!

The Boyle County Public Library has made the community room available for GED testing each time we’ve asked — four GEDs earned already and six more students testing next week. Danville Office Equipment and the Bluebird Market outfitted our new space with the filing cabinets, bookshelves, desk and a copier that we needed; Beth Marlowe with the Bluebird Market had us in the back of the delivery truck looking at recent furniture donations within minutes of our inquiry.

We appreciate the students who have already been referred to us by the Danville Housing Authority and other members of the United Human Services network.

Finally, we are grateful to our new fiscal agent, Kentucky Educational Development Corporation, which provides streamlined leadership, empowering us to serve our students and linking us to our neighboring counties (Mercer, Lincoln and Garrard) so that we can form a stronger network of adult education in this region.
