Susan Lackney was the guest speaker at the Kiwanis meeting on Sept. 20.

Let it Begin with Kindermusik … Why? Kindermusik is dedicated to using the power of music to help children grow during the years most critical to brain development. In these classes, children are welcomed into a playful and nurturing environment where they experience music of varying styles, genres, and cultures. They interact with other children and engage in movement, rhythm, and vocal activities that develop far more than just music skills. This developmentally appropriate curriculum fosters a rich education that primes young children for success in school and life. 

Lackney has been licensed and teaching Kindermusik since 2014. She has been teaching preschool level music at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church preschool since 2008, is the current music director at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, instructs piano and flute, and is owner of Little Paws Piano and Music Studio on Main St. in Danville.

Marlowe speaks to Kiwanis Sept. 13

Beth Marlowe, director of Blue Bird Market in Danville, was the speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Danville’s lunch program on Thursday, Sept. 13.

Beth has been with Danville Independent Schools for 20 years, doing everything from working with the family resource center, to helping coach the Danville High Forensics team, to now leading the operation of Blue Bird Market.

The market is a fair-price shopping experience to support Wilderness Trace Child Development Center. Proceeds support therapeutic intervention for children from birth to the age of five at the center.
