Starting Monday, Nov. 19, The Advocate-Messenger will launch a digital subscription campaign aimed at bringing the newspaper further into the digital age.
The campaign will offer new digital-only subscribers an introductory rate of $7.50 per month or $79 per year for unlimited access to amnews.com.
Print and digital subscribers will have unlimited access to news stories, photos and other content posted to amnews.com and will also receive the digital replica of the printed version of the newspaper, called the e-edition. Subscribers do not see pop-up ads from advertisers and are not asked to complete Google Consumer Surveys to read stories on the website.
Non-subscribers and subscribers who are not signed into their account will still be able to read eight free stories per month, including news, sports and lifestyle content, before being prompted to log in. A meter appearing at the top of each story will notify readers of the number of stories remaining.
Stories conveying urgent public safety information will not count toward the eight-story limit. Classified ads and public notices that local governments and other parties are required to publish by law will also remain free on the website.
“This is another step in the evolution of our news products as we continue to find the best ways to serve our readers and our advertisers,” interim Publisher Michael Caldwell said. “Our goal is to be unmatched when it comes to providing our community with the news it wants and needs in digital and print formats.”
The e-edition is emailed Tuesday through Saturday by 6:30 a.m. It allows readers to flip through pages of a digital replica of that day’s printed newspaper on a phone, tablet or computer, as well as clicking on individual stories to view a full-screen version.
Advocate-Messenger print subscribers receive free digital subscriptions. Setting up a digital subscription requires a subscriber ID, which can be obtained by calling the newspaper’s office at (859) 236-2551 or emailing subscriptions@amnews.com. Current subscribers can also obtain subscription IDs online by visiting amnews.com/subscriptions and clicking on the “current subscribers” image.
At the same time, The Advocate-Messenger is also launching a free daily newsletter delivered to your inbox that offers a glance at the stories in that day’s newspaper.
