Lincoln County tops Garrard by 31, readies for LIT

LANCASTER — The Lincoln County girls improved to 19-3 Thursday night with a 68-37 win over Garrard County.

The Lady Patriots jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led 25-14 at the end of one and took a 43-18 lead into the break. The running clock was invoked midway through the third quarter.

Lincoln coach Cassandra McWhorter used her reserves freely throughout the night, resting her seniors for weekend Louisville Invitational Tournament.

Ten of the 12 Lady Patriots scored in the win, led by Emma King with 16 points. Zaria Napier, Haleigh Releford and Maddy Boyle each scored eight points, while Kaitlynn Wilks and Trinity Shearer each scored seven points for the Patriots.

Lincoln County will face Manual (15-8) in the LIT quarterfinals on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
