Margaret L. Abbott

1929-2019

Margaret L. Abbott, 89, of Danville, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Charleston Healthcare in Danville. She was born April 4, 1929, in Burgin, Kentucky to the late Robinson and Ruby Tharp Stagner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Marion Abbott. A member of Parksville Baptist Church, Margaret taught Sunday School for 60 years. She also taught bible school and led Girls Auxiliary Groups. She and Hubert were very active in the Foster Care program and shared their home and love with many children. Her’s was a life of service to others.

Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Montgomery (Bernard) of Danville; daughter-in-law, Kathy Abbott of Danville; brother, Donald Stagner of Perryville; grandchildren, Bryan Abbott (Kim), Greg Montgomery (Liz), Melanie Montgomery Brummett, and Kurt Abbott (Rachael); great-grandchildren, Case Montgomery (Haley), Larkin Montgomery, Gentry Brummett, Brynley Abbott, Cooper Brummett, Ashley Abbott, Kaden Abbott, Mary Grace Brummett, and Collin Abbott and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her loving son, Bro. Bobby Abbott; and a brother, Johnny Stagner.

Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Ernest Martin officiating. Burial in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Abbott, Greg Montgomery, Kurt Abbott, Case Montgomery, Gentry Brummett, Cooper Brummett, Kaden Abbott, and Collin Abbott. Honorary pallbearers will be Melanie Montgomery Brummett, Larkin Montgomery, Brynley Abbott, Ashley Abbott, Mary Grace Brummett, Roger Woodrum, and Joe Llamas.
