Correction

In the story “Boyle County Courthouse bailiff a jack of all trades” published on March 20, it is bailiff Bill Westerfield who is the pastor of Junction City First Christian Church, not bailiff Tom Stocker.

Fish Fry set for Saturday

Danville’s Masonic Lodge will have a spring fish fry from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.on Saturday, March 23, at 400 N. 4th Street. Menu includes hand-breaded cod fish, barbecue, cole slaw, corn on the cob, French fries, baked beans, hush puppies, banana pudding, coffee, tea and lemonade. Everyone welcome, tickets $9 and $5 for those under 12. Profits will go towards “Perfect Attenders Bicycle Program” in Boyle and Danville grade schools.

Free health screening March 23

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening at Leavel Green Christian Church in Paint Lick from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on March 23.

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, take-home colorectal cancer screening kits (over age 50), heart risk, stress and depression. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. Medications except for diabetic medications may be taken with water.

Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 339-3103 or (859) 339-2374. The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years and older.

Boyle and Mercer County Special Called Joint Jail Budget Meeting — 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, in the Boyle County Fiscal Courtroom. Agenda includes: Joint Jail Budget 19/20.

Danville Boyle County Human Rights Commission — 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the Boyle County Courthouse, in the Fiscal Court room on the first floor. Please arrive promptly and enter by the Fourth Street entrance. The Human Rights Commission is established to hear all complaints and concerns of community citizens related to violations of their human rights.
