For the first time in Boyle County High School history, an academic team member has won a State Governor’s Cup event. Senior Jaelyn Young has recently accomplished this outstanding feat. “I think it’s definitely cool. People put it in perspective by saying that I’m the best writer in the state.” Along with her English class, Young takes A.P. Government where she does an abundance of writing in order to prepare for the competitions. Young has had the goal of winning state, which she has been working towards from a young age. “I’ve been doing written composition for the academic team since fourth grade. I made it to state in eighth grade, but I didn’t place. I made it to state last year, but I didn’t place. This year, I made it to state and obviously won. It’s really cool because I’ve been working towards this for eight years.”
