Boyle County student awarded Farm Bureau scholarship

LOUISVILLE —Michaela Carpenter, a recent high school graduate from Boyle County High School, is a recipient of a scholarship from Boyle County Farm Bureau. In partnership with the County Farm Bureaus, the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation awarded more than $460,000 this year to deserving students from across the Commonwealth.

Carpenter was awarded a $1,000 Boyle County Farm Bureau — David Sparrow Scholarship. Carpenter plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study agricultural economics. Carpenter is the daughter of Dean and Michelle Carpenter of Perryvillle.

Farm Bureau scholarships, offered annually, are awarded to recipients who display the greatest levels of academic excellence, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership abilities and financial need.

Johnson named to Champlain College president’s list

BURLINGTON, Vermont — Ivay Johnson of Danville, has been named to the Champlain College president’s list for the spring 2019 semester.

Students on the President’s List have achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or higher during the semester. Johnson is majoring in cybersecurity.

Majors named to Samford dean’s list

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Jessica Majors of Danville was among the 1,519 students named to the Samford University’s 2019 spring semester dean’s list. Majors is majoring in pre-business.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The dean’s list is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.
