“Sister Cities — Sister Songs” is the title of the program that will be presented by Summer Singers 7:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, July 20) at The Presbyterian Church of Danville, 500 W. Main St   The free program will be the first to be presented under our new fiscal sponsor, The Arts Commission of Danville-Boyle County.

In anticipation of the choir’s trip to Ireland in October 2020, it will perform pieces in several American music traditions — Shaker, shape-note, spiritual and jazz — as well as a couple of pieces from Ireland and by Irish composers.  As usual, the audience will join the choir for three singalong songs: a favorite hymn of Irish descent, an African-American spiritual and a very simple Shaker song.
