Garrard County Arts Council  — 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug 1 at Garrard County Arts Center, 206 Lexington Street.

The Boyle County District Board — 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 5 at the Boyle County Extension Office. The tax rate for the upcoming year will be set.

Wilderness Trace Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth — 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 5 at Inter-County Energy Community Room, 1009 Hustonville Road (community room entrance is on the left side of the building).

Housing Authority of Danville — 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at 1014 Rosemont Ave. for a special board meeting. Agenda includes approval to submit an offer for property at 390 Carr St.

Summer Sizzle Karaoke contest

Summer Sizzle Karaoke contest is Friday, August 2 at Leos of Lancaster. Sign up starts at 7:30 p.m., Karaoke begins at 8 p.m. Top three contestants will advance to the grand finale in September to compete for Cash prizes. Contest will run weekly at various locations to be announced. All funds raised will be used for the benefit of our New Community Art Center. Details contact BG Lewis (859) 948-6988.

Masonic lodge country breakfast Saturday

Danville’s Franklin Masonic Lodge will have its first Saturday of the month country breakfast 7-10 a.m. Aug. 3 at the lodge, 400 N. Fourth St., Danville.

The menu includes country ham, bacon, sausage, tenderloin, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, coffee, orange juice and pastries. Everyone is welcome.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

American Red Cross is sponsoring a blood drive on Monday, August 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Lafayette Engineering, 2405 Lebanon Road. All donors will be entered to win a family four-pack of Cedar Fair tickets which are good at Kings Island and Cedar Point.
