Former Danville football coach Chester Caddas passed away in Lexington on Saturday, three days before his 84th birthday as reported by recordnet.com.

Caddas, who coached the Admirals from 1963-65, went on to have a career as a college coach as an assistant at Vanderbilt, a head coach at the University of the Pacific and Colorado State before finishing as an assistant at Purdue.

The Memphis, Tenn., native built an impressive coaching tree while at Pacific, which includes Super Bowl champion Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

On Saturday, Carroll tweeted out a remembrance of the coach he both played and was an assistant under.

Chester Caddas is survived by his daughter, son Chris Caddas, six grandchildren and three grandchildren.
