Toliver holds open house Thursday 

Edna L. Toliver Intermediate School will have an open house for students and their parents/ or guardians to meet the teachers and visit the classrooms on Thursday, Aug. 8. The schedule is split up according to grades, and is: 3-5 p.m. for third grade; 4-6 p.m. for fourth; and 5-7 p.m. for fifth. 

Veterans groups plan benefit for families affected by pipeline explosion

On Aug. 17, several different groups of veterans will offer the community a chance to come out and help families who were affected by the Texas Eastern Pipeline explosion in the Moreland community. The event will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, 482 Stanford Avenue in Danville. Magnolia Vale and the Dynamic Duo, made up of Jordan Corn and Hunter McKinney, will provide live music. 

Hamburger and hot dog plates, with a side, cookie and drink will be sold for $6 each, with the proceeds to benefit families affected by the pipeline explosion. 

Organizers are still in search of local sponsors of the event, and anyone interested in helping can email kimblake1970@gmail.com, or call (859) 608-0648. The event is being organized by AMVETS Post 123 with the American Legion Post 46’s help, and the Armoy has donated the space to hold the event.

Blood Drive at Perryville Baptist Church

 

To help address the current emergency blood shortage, all who come to give blood or platelets with the American Red Cross through Aug. 29 will receive a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card via email. A local blood drive is being held today (August 1) at Perryville Baptist Church, 202 South Bragg St. Perryville from 3 to 7 p.m.

Boyle County Fiscal Court Personnel Committee – 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 7) in Room 106 at the Boyle County Courthouse. Agenda includes compensation plan.

Boyle and Mercer County Joint Jail Committee — 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at Mercer County Fiscal Court. Agenda includes: Shepherd’s House IOP update; jailers report; inmate good time credit; cameras; JailTracker OMS annual support contract; qualified mental health professional submissions; July financial statement.
