When the sun rose on August 30, 2019, it did not shine on Margaret M. Crain as it had every morning since March 26, 1936. Maggie had passed away earlier that morning from complications of Parkinson’s disease that she had gallantly fought for years.

Born to the late William Steele Kelley and Mary Jump Kelley in Covington, Kentucky, she is survived by her husband of 65 years, David L. Crain; daughter, Susan (Rick) Alvey; son, Butch (Dana) Crain; grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Lockhart, Jonathan (Stacey) Perkins, Jacob Lee Crain; and great-grandsons, Mason, Alex, Andrew Lockhart and Zachery Perkins.

Maggie owned and operated Maggie’s Market and General Store for over 30 years with her husband who was also the Mitchellsburg Postmaster. She made the best bologna sandwich in the county. She was a friend, neighbor, and mother to all in the community. She did so much good, often unsung or even unknown.

She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, Junction City and was loved and will be missed by all. Good-bye Maggie, we love you.

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home.
