Day of Action signups are underway

Registration is open for volunteers to sign up for the Heart of Kentucky United Way’s 26th annual Day of Action. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26th. On this day, hundreds of volunteers from business, industry, and public service organizations in Lincoln, Boyle, Garrard, Mercer and other surrounding counties will work together in a collaborative, hands-on experience providing free labor to area health/human service agencies and various other community groups requesting assistance.

Local groups and agencies have submitted requests for service projects. Projects and activities can be as creative as the agency/group makes them, consisting of almost anything appropriate for volunteers that can be accomplished in half of a day. Previous work projects have included painting, washing windows, light renovation of an agency facility, workplace or client homes, landscaping, clean-up, and sorting food and clothing, distributing needed items, simple construction, light repairs, planting trees, filing, and a particular favorite — interaction with clients, when appropriate.
