More than 20 people strolled through three historic Danville properties and learned about restoration efforts that kept the buildings preserved during the city’s Tour120 event Saturday evening.

Tour120 is a statewide initiative to raise awareness of the importance of historic preservation and heritage tourism in all of Kentucky’s 120 counties, according to a news release from Preservation Kentucky.

Another Tour120 will be held in Perryville on Oct. 6, which is the day following the annual Perryville Battlefield Commemoration event.

Main Street Perryville Executive Director Vicki Goode said the guided tour will be of the Johnson-Britton House, Carrick-Parks House, and “hopefully” the Bath House, “which is very new to us,” if work can be completed in time.

Following the tour, visitors will walk down Merchant’s Row and onto the old Boyle House, which is located on the corner of Second and Bragg streets, where they will be served refreshments from the town’s brand new cafe, Salted Honey, Goode said.

Along with the tour, re-enactors will be dressed in period costumes at campsites set up at each stop.They will describe to visitors how the Civil War, especially the Battle of Perryville, affected the town and its residents, Goode said.

Having the Tour120 in Perryville is important to the tourism trade for the town, she added.

Tickets must be reserved in advance by calling the Main Street Perryville office at (859) 332-1862 and are $20 per person. Proceeds will go toward Main Street Perryville’s restoration project on the Carrick-Parks House.
