Danville High School

Laura Eason has brought new literary energy to Danville High School. Eason has been a librarian for the past 12 years and before that, she was an English teacher. When asked why she chose Danville High School, Eason responded, “when I was looking for a job I saw that Danville had an opening.”

Since she already knew a little bit about the town, she was excited, plus she thought that the high school would be a great place to work.

Eason said she is “probably a mystery fan” and her favorite book is “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Her favorite authors are Agatha Christie and David Baldacci.

Mrs. Eason has big goals for the library for this upcoming school year. She said she is “excited to try to get as many kids reading as possible.” One way she plans to do this is via a school-wide read. A school-wide read is where the school picks something for all students to read and then each class does something with what is read. When she was asked what books she was considering for the schoolwide read, Eason said that she had “narrowed it down to three memoirs: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, Hey Kiddo by Jarrett J. Krosoczka and Hole in My Life by Jack Gantos.”

Senior Juliana Tecpile said, “she is a good librarian and I like the way she is interested in teaching kids about reading.” So far she seems to be fitting right in at DHS and we are happy to have her. Senior Hunter Buntain said, “She seems pretty nice.”
