Two people were arrested on a variety of drug charges Monday evening after police found several concealed bags of narcotics inside their vehicle.

Whitney M. Haste, 24, of Burnside and William C. Eastridge, 32, of Somerset, were arrested at around 8:15 p.m. near Walton Avenue after police conducted a traffic stop, according to Danville Police.

Haste was the driver of the white Honda Accord and was found to have active warrants. 

The passenger gave police a false name and social security number and after several attempts to obtain his real name, Eastridge was found to have had an active warrant for his arrest due to a parole violation. When he was arrested and searched, police located a black dress sock stuffed in his genital area containing a large amount of cash.

Officers allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the car, so they initiated a search of the vehicle. They located drug paraphernalia, including needles and several small plastic bags. Behind the radio faceplate, police found a bag of marijuana.

Police also located another black dress sock containing two plastic bags that had 63 grams of what they believe to be methamphetamine, 18.5 grams of marijuana and 137 Xanax pills under the hood of the vehicle.

Haste and Eastridge were arrested. On the way to the Boyle County Detention Center, Eastridge allegedly tried to consume additional meth that was concealed on his body.

Haste was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana; trafficking marijuana; third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, drug unspecified; first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, meth; traffic violations; and outstanding warrants. As of Tuesday afternoon, Haste was still lodged at the jail with a $10,000 bond pending.

Eastridge was charged with tampering with physical evidence; giving an officer false information; identity theft; possession of drug paraphernalia; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, heroin; third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, drug unspecified; prescription not in original container; first-degree trafficking a controlled substance, meth; and trafficking in marijuana. Tuesday afternoon, he was not listed as an inmate at the jail.
