Letter: Positive Partnership Between Youth Soccer, Centre College

From Amy Bugg, Danville —
I would like to commend the partnership between Boyle Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) and Centre College, specifically the undefeated, nationally ranked Centre Women’s Soccer (CWS) team coached by Jay Hoffman and Jessica Chisley.
While I don’t know the entire back story, these two community-oriented organizations decided to work together to better the training and development of the local U6 and U8 soccer players. These (and many other) youth leagues rely on volunteer coaches to put together practice schedules and snack calendars, and there are never enough willing participants.
While our son has benefited from exceptional parent-coaches in the past, this fall, all U6 and U8 players received weekly, small group instruction from CWS and its coaches (and there’s more in store for the spring season). How exciting it was for these young people to practice on a college pitch with elite college players and coaches encouraging them to better their skills on and off the field.
As a parent, I would like to say thank you to Mark Finke, Cason Wittig, Jay Hoffman, Jessica Chisley, Jeb Burch and the entire CWS team for their investment in and dedication to local youth soccer.
