Danville first responders helped free a man who had been run over by his own vehicle Saturday.

Danville police were first to the scene of a wreck at about 12:25 p.m. Saturday, which was reported as an injury wreck with someone trapped underneath a vehicle, according to a news release.

“Through investigation, it was determined that Robert Dragan, 73, of Danville, was operating his vehicle and stopped in the roadway to retrieve something,” according to the release. “Dragan stated that he thought his vehicle was in park, but it began to roll backwards.  Dragan attempted to get back into his truck and fell, causing the vehicle to run him over, trapping him under the left front wheel-well, between the tire and the bumper.”
