The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a ceremony at Old Fort Harrod that begins with posting the colors. Aprile Hunt will sing the National Anthem before a bevy of speakers who will share the importance of recognizing our veterans.

The day includes a 5K Run, 10K Ruck March and a 12:30 p.m. parade on Main Street. The parade will begin at Old Fort Harrod State Park, traveling down Lexington Street, up Main and back down Chiles Street as the parade concludes back at Old Fort Harrod.

“All area veterans, families of veterans and active duty service personnel are encouraged to join in the parade,” Committee Chairman Jackie Mattingly said. “The purpose of this event is to honor the members of the Bataan March, as well as to recognize and honor all veterans from all branches of the military and conflicts.”

Harrodsburg First Main Street Program (HF) is coordinating the parade.

“Decorate your vehicle, bring posters or signs to recognize your service personnel, we want to celebrate and honor those who have served or are actively serving our country,” HF Executive Director Julie Wagner said. “The public is encouraged to attend the parade and show appreciation for our veterans and service personnel.”

Parade applications are on the organization’s website: downtownharrodsburg.com/organizational-documents.
