The Advocate-Messenger is to be commended for taking a very sensible position on moving the Confederate statue from McDowell Park to Bellevue Cemetery.

I am an elder of The Presbyterian Church of Danville, and I can say that the decision to move the statue to a more suitable location was made carefully and deliberately.

This move will be expensive. It is my hope that the whole community will pitch in to make this relocation a unifying community project.
