The award was presented by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network.

Isaiah House won for its innovative approach to providing clients with the skills they need to live a life free of substance abuse. Their alumni-managed and client-operated businesses train and provide employment for individuals in recovery, providing needed on-the job-training – especially for clients with criminal records challenged to find employment.

“I am so impressed at the work of KNN and all that non-profits do for our counties and state,” Isaiah House CEO/Founder Mark LaPalme said. “We are grateful to them and for this acknowledgment of our continued efforts over the last 20 years to lead the country in addiction treatment.”

Isaiah House’s unique partnership with Campbellsville University has resulted in a satellite campus at Isaiah House, the first of its kind in the nation. The organization was also the first selected nationwide in 2017 for a new U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) pilot project where Isaiah House purchases and renovates USDA-owned homes to become rental property for recovering addicts and their families, with a future option to purchase. Renovations are carried out by Isaiah 58 Builders, one of the organization’s client-operated businesses.

“KNN is a distinguished association of non-profit organizations that makes a positive difference in our commonwealth,” Isaiah House President Mike Cox said. “We are extremely grateful and honored to be the recipient of the 2019 Innovative Nonprofit Award.”
