Danville police investigating shooting

News release
On Nov. 10 at 2:54 a.m., the Danville Police Department responded to 509 Smith St. in reference to a shooting in progress.
Before responding units arrived, information was received that there was one gunshot victim. Danville Police identified Joseph Dye, 24, as the victim. The male victim was shot once in the left calf and the bullet grazed the other calf, according to Danville Police Chief Tony Gray.
Dye was treated on scene and then transported by Boyle County EMS to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center ER, where he was treated and released.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the shooting and identify the individuals involved.

Officer Jewell and Detective Peel are the investigating Officers. Danville officers were assisted at the scene by Boyle County EMS and the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
