“American Creed” community conversation

Citizens Concerned for Human Relations, in partnership with Grace Doherty Library and Boyle County Public Library, will be hosting a film screening and scholar-facilitated discussion of PBS and Citizen Film’s documentary, “American Creed,” on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the library. 

The documentary features former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, historian David Kennedy and a diverse group of Americans who explore whether a unifying set of beliefs, an American creed, can prove more powerful than the issues that divide us.

The film will be followed by a community conversation facilitated by Dr. Daniel Stroup and J.H. Atkins. The library is located at 307 West Broadway in Danville.

 

Danville-Boyle County Parks and Recreation — 4:15 p.m. today, Nov. 20, at Danville City Hall. Agenda items include treasurer’s report; National gingerbread cookie day; cheerleading registration; basketball registration; maintenance report; update on Bunny Davis center/pool deck; and parks and recreation agreement/ordinance.

 

Thanksgiving closings

The Boyle County Courthouse, all convenience centers, recycling center and the Boyle County Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Perryville recycling pickup will be on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
