Heritage Hospice, Inc. would like to extend a huge thank you to all the veterans of Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties who chose to spend their time with us for our 12th annual Veterans Appreciation Day at Danville’s National Guard Armory. We were proud to host 779 veterans and their 103 guests. Of those veterans, 17 served in World War II.

We had the privilege of honoring our oldest and youngest veterans at the event as well. Paul Chandler was recognized as the oldest at 101, with Chester Wolfe following him to earn second-oldest. Each World War II veteran received a hat, pin, and gift card to honor their service. Our youngest veteran was 20-year-old Joshua Crowe. 

Without the continued support of the community, this event would not have been able to continue these past 12 years. A huge special thanks goes to the Franklin Lodge for their years of hard work and dedication, the other lodges in District 21 who served, and our amazing volunteers.

Thanks also to Scottish Rite and Grand Lodge A & FM and Fourth Street Fireworks for their financial support. We’d like to thank the Veterans Day committee, Danville Christian Academy, the Veterans Center, Helping Hands and all of our community sponsors. Without each of you, this event would not be possible. We truly appreciate your partnership in this event to help serve those who have served our great nation.
