The Boyle County swim and dive team picked up another win on Saturday competing in one of the biggest meets they’ve been in this year.

Out of the 23 total teams to compete — 21 schools fielded a girls team and 18 fielded a boys — the girls finished second with 325 points while the boys placed first with 371. The combined score of 696 was more than 100 points better than second place (and host) Woodford County.

The Rebels got best times in the boys 200 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, 400 yard freestyle relay and the girls 200 yard freestyle relay.

They also earned second place finishes in the girls 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle and the boys 200 yard freestyle relay.

In the second event of the day, the relay team of Creed Farthing, Corbin Coyle, Campbell Coyle and Clark Coyle finished with a time of 1:41.8, over 10 seconds faster than the second place team from Lexington Christian Academy.

Campbell Coyle was the winner of the meet for his overall performance.

Creed Farthing earned Boyle its second best time of the meet with his 1:53.83 time in the 200 yard freestyle. His teammate Corbin Coyle placed third with a 1:58.95 time.

Riley Cerqueira placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, coming up two tenths of a second behind Scott’s Caroline Meister’s time of 25.65. Campbell Coyle took first in the boys 50 yard free with an impressive 22.08 time, over a second and a half faster than West Jessamine’s Reese Morgan.

In the girls 100 yard freestyle, Cerqueira again finished behind Meister for a second place finish out of the 106 girls competing in the race. Campbell Coyle again finished first in the boys side of the race. This time his 49.1 time was over four seconds faster than Rene Reil’s second place time.

Boyle got its fifth first place finish in the girls 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Sophia Fogle, Whitney Bean, Cora Gilbert and Cerqueira took the top spot with a time of 1:47.57, nearly a full second faster than Scott County’s team. The boys relay team of Trey Barnett, Mason Lockhart, Clark Coyle and Alex Lockhart had a time of 1:40.18, but couldn’t overcome Woodford County’s dominant team of Cole Janzow, William Fisher, Clay Lewis and Nate Janzow, who clocked in at 1:36.20 for the best time.

Creed Farthing secured another first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, with a time of 55.44, three seconds faster than Woodford County’s Cole Janzow.

The Rebels would close out the event on a high note, winning the 400 yard freestyle relay when the team of Farthing, Alex Lockhart, and Corbin and Campbell Coyle finished with a 3:27.30 time, a full six seconds faster than Woodford’s second place time.
