Rebecca June Rue

1950-2019

Rebecca June Rue, age 69, passed away peacefully December 20th, 2019 at her home in Lexington, KY. Born June 1, 1950 in Harrodsburg, Ky to Insco W. and Doris B. Rue. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother-in-law Harry Thomas (Tom) Cheak.

Becky leaves behind her sister, Sharon Rue Cheak, brother Insco and wife Judy Rue. Becky also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and Special friends, Ms. Flo Witte and Ms. Carolyn Finch. 

Becky was a 1968 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and was the class Valedictorian. After graduating from Harrodsburg High School, Becky attended Eastern Kentucky University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree and was the class Valedictorian. Becky went on to receive her master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Music Theory. 

Beginning in 1983, Becky began a long and incredible career with the United States Post Office culminating with her position as Postmaster in Mt. Sterling, KY, from which she retired in 2012. Becky was a member of Rotary Club International. She served as a local and national officer. Becky was a Kentucky Colonel. 

Becky excelled in everything she did, she was a perfectionist. Becky loved her family and friends! Her nickname was Bubbles, and she did have an effervescent personality. She loved her dogs, and she loved sports of all kinds, especially UK basketball and football. She loved to travel and see new sights. She loved music and she loved to sing and play the piano. She was extremely intelligent. She enjoyed music, movies, tv shows, concerts and church activities. Becky truly loved and enjoyed people and made friends wherever she went. 

Becky’s life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Becky loved the Lord Jesus and she loved her church family and her choir family at Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington. 

We are saddened in our flesh over the sudden passing of our loved one and friend, but we rejoice that her physical pains have passed and that her spirit now rests in the arms of her beloved savior. Thank you, sweet Becky, for your amazing love and kindness. Please join us in celebrating her life. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, December 26 at 5 pm and the family will receive guests until 9 pm at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, December 27,2019 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Peters, pastor of Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington officiating. www.preston-pruitt.com
