Elda “DeLayne” Souleyrette Westerfield

1936-2020

Elda “DeLayne” Souleyrette Westerfield, 83, of Danville died Friday, January 24, 2020. Born in Alpine, Kentucky on January 30, 1936, she was the daughter of Paul and Katherine Lorainne Lewis Souleyrette. She was a 1954 graduate of Danville High School. DeLayne worked for Bell South Telephone for 36 years. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and was a wonderful cook. She made and shared many jars of jams. Delayne loved to talk and would tell you goodbye twenty times before you left but she always gave her precious smile to everyone. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Westerfield, Her brothers and sisters, Dot (Dorothy) Porter, Eloise “Cricket” Lay, Paula Durr, Don Souleyrette and Gene Souleyrette.

DeLayne is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Lynn Phillips, Danville and her son, Bud (Theresa) Westerfield of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, Clay (Krystal) Westerfield, Joseph (Katie) Sexton, Jacob (Melissa) Phillips, Casie Westerfield, Caleb Phillips and Jessica (Stevie) Elliott; and seven great-grandchildren: Roma Kate Sexton, John Scott Sexton, Alexis Westerfield, Evan Clay Westerfield, Zachary Kotsubka, Josie Lynn Elliott and Gracie Makay Elliott.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Ernest Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Clay Westerfield, Joseph Sexton, Jacob Phillips, Casie Westerfield, Caleb Phillips and Stevie Elliott. The honorary pallbearers will be Roma Kate Sexton, John Sexton, Alexis Westerfield, Evan Clay Westerfield, Zachary Kotsubka, Josie Lynn Elliott and Gracie Makay Elliott. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church Missions.
