Boyle County junior Campbell Coyle had another record setting day last Wednesday in a meet against Woodford County.
After breaking his own school record in the 50-yard freestyle and the meet record for Louisville’s Rock the Blocks in the 50-yard fly, Campbell set a new school record in the 100-yard fly on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with a time of 53.52, breaking Owen Stone’s old mark.
But it wasn’t just in that event that Boyle was dominant in Wednesday’s meet with Woodford. Both the girls and boys teams won easily — the girls by a score of 606-446 and the boys 554.5-484.5.
Despite Woodford placing first in the majority of events — 13 to Boyle’s 11 — the Rebels were bolstered by several events in which they owned most of the top five.
In the girls 50-yard freestyle, Boyle had the top six times in the race, and in the 100-yard variation of that race, they took the top four spots. In the boys 50-yard freestyle, Boyle had four of the top six.
On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Boyle will have its last regular season meet of the year and will be hosting its senior night at Centre College’s pool. The event will also serve as Danville’s senior night.
The teams will honor their seniors at 6:00 p.m. with the swimming scheduled to start at 6:30 and diving tentatively scheduled for 8:30.
