The premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force, Airmen of Note, will be featured during the Great American Picnic on Saturday night of the festival, and they will serve as the finale on Sunday afternoon.

Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., the Airmen of Note is one of six musical ensembles that form The U.S. Air Force Band. Created in 1950 to continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces dance band, the current band consists of 18 active-duty Airmen musicians, including one vocalist.

Brass Band Festival favorites from New Orleans, the Stooges Brass Band and Storyville Stompers will return again this year, and will both bring the funk Friday night at Bayou and Brass on Main Street/Weisiger Park. The Stooges Brass Band will also close out the Saturday night picnic, after the Airmen of Note conclude their performance.

Another crowd-pleaser, the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Clown Band will return again in 2020 and entertain children and adults alike at Bayou and Brass and during the festival on Saturday afternoon.

The 202nd Army Band of the Kentucky National Guard out of Frankfort will return for their 23rd year at the festival. The London Citadel Salvation Army Band from Ontario, Canada will provide music on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as for the Community Ecumenical Church Service on Sunday morning of the festival.

The North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) will contribute to the 31st Festival as well. NABBA is a collaborative effort of many British-style brass bands. There has long been a relationship between the Great American Brass Band Festival and NABBA, and this year, as a special treat, the festival will play host to a band made up of the best players from various NABBA member bands — it will be known as the NABBA Ambassadors. This all-star group will assemble here, rehearse for two days, and present two concerts from the Main Stage.

Rounding out the festival and other weekend events is Brass Impact, Walnut Street Ramblers and the MetroGnomes, all from Lexington, KY; the Ohio Valley British Brass Band, the Band of the California Battalion from southern California, and Danville’s own Advocate Brass Band.
