Alice “Ann” Bradley
1945-2020
Alice “Ann” Bradley, 74, is with her Lord and Savior after passing away peacefully at her home. Ann was born June 19, 1945 in Perryville, Kentucky. She graduated from Perryville High School and received a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from the Eastern Kentucky University. She moved to Whitesburg, KY at the age of 22 to begin her 49-year career as Letcher County’s Family & Science Extension Agent with the University of Kentucky’s Cooperative Extension Service.
After making Letcher County her home in June, 1967, she worked with many 4-H Club children and was able to watch them become happy, successful adults.
Miss Bradley was an active member of Whitesburg United Methodist Church and several community organizations and groups. She loved the town of Whitesburg and the community she called home. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed reading, writing letters, quilting, sending care packages to family and friends, and visiting her family in North Carolina. She called them often, always made sure to tell them she was praying for them and asked that they pass on hugs and kisses from her. She was so full of life and brought joy to all that she encountered.
Ann is survived by her brother, Frank Bradley and wife Betty of Greenville, NC; niece, Jennifer Bradley Allen and husband Roland Allen of Farmville, NC; great niece Lauren Poad and husband, CJ of Rolesville, NC and their son, her great, great nephew Trey Poad; great niece Emily Allen and great nephew Bradley Allen, both of Raleigh, NC. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William Bradley, Sr. of Perryville, KY.
Miss Bradley was laid to rest in Perryville, KY alongside her mother and father on Friday April 3rd. In light of COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date and a memorial of life celebration will be held at her church once travel restrictions are lifted. Details will be shared when we have these dates.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Screening Program at the Markey Cancer Center Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Ovarian Screening Program 800 Rose Street UKMC Room 375 Whitney Hendrickson Women’s Cancer Facility Lexington, KY 40536
