Another case of COVID-19 has been reported by Ephraim McDowell Health. This is the second positive result reported this week by EMH, and both have been Lincoln County residents.
A statement from EMH reported that the person that tested positive Wednesday is self-quarantining at home.
The Lincoln County Health Department reported Monday that a 76-year-old Lincoln County resident living at Stanford Care and Rehab had tested positive at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Tuesday morning, LCHD reported that the patient had died as a result of COVID-19.
Gov. Andy Beshear reported in his Wednesday evening public address that Kentucky has had 2,291 total cases of COVID-19, resulting in 122 deaths. He said officials are aware of at least 50 confirmed cases in Kentucky that were not added to those totals as of the time he went on air.
Additionally, he noted that 807 Kentuckians have been hospitalized for COVID-19, and 412 are currently hospitalized for treatment. There have been 367 people in intensive care units since the pandemic began, and 252 Kentuckians are currently in ICU.
Beshear said 28, 324 Kentuckians have been tested for COVID-19, and 862 have recovered. He called that “great news.”
“That number has jumped, meaning a bunch of people have gotten better,” Beshear said

EMH safety measures
Ephraim McDowell Health has taken specific steps for the protection of our patients and Associates.  No visitors are allowed at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital or Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital.  There are some exceptions such as passing patients, patient sitters and those who are power of attorney or health care surrogates for a patient.
In another measure to protect patients, Ephraim McDowell is offering telehealth visits for patients at many of our specialty and primary care offices.  Telehealth visits are possible through a computer, tablet or smartphone, allowing patients to stay at home and receive much of the medical attention that they could receive through a face-to-face visit.  Patients can use telehealth for follow-up visits, Medicare Wellness visits, refills, follow-up test results and new patient visits.

What if you have COVID-19 symptoms?
You can call (859) 936-8350 if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms or if you have a fever, sore throat or breathing difficulties.  A nurse answering the call will assess your symptoms and advise you of the stops you should follow.
That may include a visit to your primary care provider, a visit to your local Emergency Room or a visit to one of Ephraim McDowell’s four testing facilities.  The four testing facilities are Ephraim McDowell Walk-in & Primary Care (1541 Lebanon Road, Danville), Ephraim McDowell Haggin Primary Care (470 Linden Avenue, Suite 5, Harrodsburg), Immediate & Primary Care at Fort Logan Hospital (110 Metker Trail, Stanford), and Ephraim McDowell Springfield Family Medical Center (280 Lincoln Drive, Springfield).  Do not go to one of these testing facilities unless you are directed to by the Ephraim McDowell Call Center or an Ephraim McDowell health care provider.
